About JE Bridge

JE Bridge is owned by Kyoko, who is a professional interpreter / translator with MA in Conference Interpretation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS,) which is now called the "Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey," and a member of American Translators Association (ATA.)

Kyoko was born and raised in Japan. After graduating from Doshisha University in Kyoto, Kyoko worked for a UK-based trading company for several years and then, went to Monterey, CA to study interpretation and translation.

Upon graduating from MIIS, Kyoko was hired as an interpreter / translator by an agency that sent her to a major Japanese automotive company. After several years of experience as an in-house interpreter / translator, Kyoko became a freelance interpreter / translator in 2002.

Kyoko is specialized in automotive / manufacturing, however, have experience in translating legal documents, court interpreting, IT-related conferences, and of course in any general business matters.

With over 20 years of experience in translation and interpretation, of which 5 years are spent in a Japanese company in the U.S., and 5 years of experience in working in Japan, Kyoko understands cultural differences between the two countries and how business people in both countries have customs that are often hard to understand for the other party. It is vital to have someone who could bridge the communication gap between the two parties to avoid misunderstanding and promote smooth communication.

Kyoko says, "I love this job because I can help people understand each other. When those people who cannot understand what the other party says understand each other because of me, I feel very fulfilled. It is a very challenging job because I am not an expert in every field, but I can learn something new every time any job comes, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to become an interpreter / translator to begin with. I look forward to helping you!"
